Su Qin Fails the Examination
Su Qin petitioned the King of Qin twelve times and was refused each time. He came home in rags; his wife ignored him and his sister-in-law would not cook for him. He studied through the nights, jabbing an awl into his thigh to stay awake, and years later carried the seals of six states at once.
